Can you get health insurance for your family that's separate from what you have with your job?

Answer:

Yes you can. If your dependents qualify for it, you will often find that individual health insurance for your dependents (spouse and/or child(ren)) is less expensive than adding them onto your company plan. Because company plans generally cover everyone regardless of health conditions, they must charge more knowing that some people will use a lot of health insurance. Please keep in mind that individual health insurance plans require approval and can deny coverage to those with severe medical conditions.
